Warning from the MCM Forum
LazyWe have been made aware that some cosplayers are being contacted by telephone by individuals claiming to be from MCM Expo, who state the cosplayer has won a 'special prize'
As you can imagine, we're a little suspicious as a) ourselves as the MCM Expo Cosplay Team nor the main organisers are aware of this and b) we do not collect mobile phone or telephone numbers at any point during the Masquerade sign up.
It may be legitimate and the caller is accidentally misleading the people they are calling... or it could be more sinister, especially as a prize apparantly involves accomodation rather than something that can be sent in the post. We of course hope it is a generous Expo sponsor looking to share goodies with more of our cosplayers which would be great but please:
- If you are contacted by someone stating you've won a special prize at Expo please contact us by email: cosplay@mcmexpo.net
- If you are involved or have information about these 'special prizes' please contact us so we can clean up the matter, again by email: cosplay@mcmexpo.net
